* The new concept of “Alternate Entries” is the most significant change in the new system. This is what will solve the “20-hit limit” problem, as well as many other issues that arise for people finding and entering wilds. In a nutshell, an “Alternate Entry” is an entry we wish to record on a bill tracking report, but treat it differently than a “regular” hit or entry on a bill. Alternate entries will not count as hits or bill entries or towards the George Score. They are simply a new means with which to record "a sighting" of a bill, where the Searcher may or may not be in compliance with all the current "possession" rules of the website.
These Alternate Entries will show up on the bill tracking reports as BLACK, and there will be a button at the top of each bill report to “Show” or “Hide” the Alternate Entries. In addition, for any Alternate Entry, there will appear a short reason why that entry has been recorded as an Alternate Entry.
Here are several examples of Alternate Entries:
Example #1: A user finds their own bill in natural circulation after entering and spending the bill in the past. They will now be able to hit the bill again (but only once) as an Alternate Entry.
Exmaple #2: A Searcher finds a bill in the wild, and writes down the serial number and other information, but is not able to get to the website in order to adhere to the “possession” rule. The new Wild entry page now allows users to say that they do not have the bill in their possession, and if not, prompts them for a date they actually had the bill and the location on that date (see below). When the bill is matched and hit, these “non-possession” entries are stored as Alternate Hits.
